Your body must be perfect. If it is not, go on a diet and buy smaller things
K.Lagerfeld:
Clothes for the thin
With these words, in 2004, Lagerfeld responded to one negative review appeared in the news about the collection of the H&M fashion store chain: the Company offered one of the buyers clothes of larger sizes than the ones the Lagerfeld’s Collection consisted on and were to be sold by H&M the way it was agreed with Maestro
Maestro lost his weight due to a special diet developed for him by Jean-Claude Aubry, a famous nutricionist
Since the mid-2000s, Lagerfeld’s own style of clothing has always included mitten gloves, closed collars and tight trousers or jeans, as well as silver Chrome Hearts jewelry.
Characteristic features of Lagerfeld’s almost permanent personal image were matte snow-white hair gathered in a ponytail and dark sunglasses he wore to correct a visual defect.
Lagerfeld's own style
Gathered in a ponytail, powdered hair has been the permanent decoration of the Maestro’s head since the mid-1970s.
I wear tight suits so that I don’t have the opportunity to get fat. My only wish is to be able to wear Dior clothes in size 46/48.
K. Lagerfeld:
"Everything I've invented
is a
thin, slender people —
that was
the original idea".
After the loss of a loved one, the Maestro himself began to gain weight noticeably, trying to dress now mainly from Japanese designers such as Matsuda, Yamamoto, Comme des Garcons — they produce a looser cut clothes.
Lagerfeld was obsessed with slimness and even opposed the ban on too thin models appearing on the podium: his clothes obliged everyone to have a good figure.
However, starting in November 2000, over the next 13 months, Karl lost about 42 kg — he wanted to wear Dior Homme suits from Edi Slimane so much.

Everything — from Louis XV's furniture to music, culture and art — all of this Karl Lagerfeld has always been insanely interested in
I look at the world and fashion through the eye of the camera. So I see much more than I can even imagine.
The other half of Lagerfeld’s personal book Collection — 300 000 volumes about the French Art of XVIII century  — was sold  at Christie's Auction in 2000.
Books were no less a Maestro's passion than a photography: Lagerfeld’s personal library numbered about 300 000 (!) volumes — it was just a half of his Collection.
Photography
Karl Lagerfeld became interested in photography in 1987, shooting commercials and doing photo shoots for the fashion "gloss"; Maestro also filmed all his Shows, but could not stand selfies.
In 1998 Lagerfeld opened in Paris an art photo gallery of his own works Lagerfeld Gallery— Studio 7L, and later, in 2000, founded his "7L" publishing house and a book chain in Paris.

In 2013, by the 100th anniversary of Chanel first boutique opening, as part of the course taken to revive the Chanel brand, Lagerfeld released his "short meter" - the film "Once upon a Time", where the main role was played by Keira Knightley.
Being also a photographer, Karl Lagerfeld was constantly searching of new vectors for creativity, so he could not ignore the cinema.
Cinema (-tography)
A year later, Lagerfeld makes a film about "the events of 1954" — about "attempts to revive the former glory of Chanel"; this time the role of Coco was played by Kristen Stewart.

In 2012 in collaboration with Geza Schoen (perfumer), Gerhard Steidl (exclusive books edition) and Wallpaper Magazine, Lagerfeld creates perfume with the books smell — "Paper Passion".
Lagerfeld is also known as a perfumer but creating his own flavors (Chloé (1975), KL (1982), Jako (1997)) he also didn't forget about book lovers.

This quote is the epitome of Lagerfeld’s love for his mother although she was unusually rude and strict with young Karl from his early years and was "burdened" by his childhood
Gallery: Lagerfeld's female muses at different times of his work
Like Gianni Versace did, Karl actively cultivated the image of a top model in his work, inviting only the best to participate in shows, performing both as a fashion designer, and a photographer.
"There should be curtains on your nostrils. They are too big", Elizabeth Bahlmann was joking about her son, young Karl
For example, Lagerfeld liked to dress the France President’s wife — Brigitte Macron: "She has the most beautiful legs in Paris" (quote); Princess Diana was a fan of Chanel heading by Lagerfeld.
Among his muses there were Ines de la Fressange, Cindy Crawford, Kristen Stewart, Lilli Rose Depp etc., and especially Claudia Schiffer (until she became the face of Fanta advertising campaign).
Karl Lagerfeld had no children (excepting his models he considered to be his children) and no family in classical sense, but he was always surrounded by the world first beauties, receiving recognition even from heads of state wives.
Woman all around
It's hard to find any photos of Lagerfeld's mother, but Elisabeth Bahlmann, a strong, sarcastic and cheerful woman, had a serious influence on Karl's fate from an early age — she restrained his ego, which, according to him, was the beach ball size of.
Demanding him a lot Karl's mother thereby was making him to reach one peak to another to win her approval, starting with his childhood: by the age of 7, almost without attending school, he knew three languages and was good in drawing.

A French "choupette" means "cabbage" — the name of Lagerfeld’s beloved cat
According to Lagerfeld, Choupette eventually earned more than 3 million euros, so he bought a personal plane for his hard-working cat enjoying flying by the Jet, and hired two maids.
Lagerfeld confessed he never thought he could love a cat so much; thanks to his German citizenship, though being in France, Karl was able to bequeath his entire fortune to Choupette.
In the last his years Lagerfeld was strongly attached to his pet, a beloved Burmese cat named Choupette, who played a significant role in both Maestro’s personal and business life:
served as a prototype of one of the most popular and well-known Lagerfeld fashion brand prints;
became the heroine of Lagerfeld’s book named the same way — "Choupette";

Karl didn’t want to burden anyone about his death so he ordered cremation in advance: the ashes of Maestro were mixed with the ashes of his mother and the ashes of his one love.
On February 18th, 2019, Lagerfeld was urgently hospitalized, and the next morning, on February 19th, 2019, at the age of 85, he died of pancreatic cancer.
Instead of Karl, the guests were greeted by Virginie Viard, his "right hand"; the Couturier himself remained in a wheelchair, behind the scenes — he could no more longer move without any help.
At the beginning of January, 2019, Karl Lagerfeld for the first time did not appear in the final of his Show for Chanel Fashion House Collection, citing a sprained ankle.
In response to rumors about his imminent retirement, Lagerfeld was saying that he would leave Chanel only feet first

Fashion designer, photographer, collectioner, publisher, interior designer, writer —- Lagerfeld was incredibly hardworking and talented in everything. He was everywhere and with everyone, but only his solitude allowed him to create. The eccentric and brilliant Karl. Kaizer Karl.
Throughout his career, Karl Lagerfeld collaborated with Chloe, Krizia, Charles Jourdan and Fendi, but the real home for him was the Chanel Fashion House: Karl returned the brand to fame, and thanks to Lagerfeld Chanel reached on sales with a turnover of $ 10,000,000,000.
